Visitors say,
Welcome to Poor Richard's Books, across from the state's beautiful Old Capitol, home of thousands of books selected under the watchful eyes of Richard & Lizz Taylor and a proud independent bookseller. Richard is a former Poet Laureate of Kentucky and professor of English & Humanities at Kentucky State University. Lizz mans the floor, as well as serves with Downtown Frankfort, the local Main Street Program. Poor Richard's specializes in Kentucky titles, and also has an attic full of bibliophilic treasures awaiting their rightful home. You can listen to Kentucky music, savor one of our tempting scones and ease into your reprieve from the hectic world with an iced or hot latte. We have been supporting reading and community in Frankfort for over 30 years. You are sure to find what you need to complete your Kentucky collection.

Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life
by Kingsolver, Barbara, Kingsolver, Camille
“Tracing the food year, Kingsolver—with her characteristic candor, poetry, and grace—brings us meditations on asparagus, turkeys, tomatoes, and mulch as she and her family try to eat locally as much as they can. This is a distinct hybrid of The Omnivore’s Dilemma, Under the Tuscan Sun, and Walden.” —Matt Plies, Annie Bloom’s Books, Portland, OR

Frankfort Cemetery: The Westminster Abbey of Kentucky

Even though recent storms have wreaked havoc with trees, our dedicated local historians have focused their efforts on documenting the beauty, as well as the famous and not-so-famous residents of the Frankfort Cemetery, including Daniel Boone as well as canine residents. Historic images are included along with Gene Burch's beautiful seasonal photographs. Sample photos are included at the Frankfort Heritage Press web-site. http://www.frankforthp.com/ (Read More!)
